THE PHOTOTOUR SITE IS LAUNCHED!!!
I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am that this has come into fruition. Tim and I have put countless hours into this project, and there is still plenty of work ahead of us, but the phototour is officially planned happening and it’s going to be incredible.
For those of you who don’t already know, Tim Lytvinenko, an accomplished photographer and web developer based in Raleigh, NC, and I have joined forces to create a superteam. We call ourselves Well Done Media. We’ve basically created a business structure designed to accompany national tours, whether they be art, travel, design or music related. We create media surrounding the tour, whether it be photography, video, or blogging, and recruit sponsors to fund our expenses in exchange for exposure to a target public, blah blah business jargon etc etc. You can read more about it on the website itself. We are basically a non-traditional form of media outsourcing, incorporating photography and experienced-based travel into a medium that can work as a liaison between products/services and their relevant publics in ways that traditional advertising can’t. Whatever, I’m pretty stoked about it.
As for the tour itself, we’re going to be driving counter-clockwise around the country, stopping in about 20-25 cities, covering artists, bands (including Bowerbirds & Megafaun!), writers, otherwise interesting people, and documenting our adventures in real time. It’s going to be one hell of a media project when we’re all done. And then we’ll do it all again next year, with more tour dates, more funding, more subjects to follow and cover, and more outlets to outsource to. And then again the year after that, and so on. Ideally, by the time I graduate with my MFA, this project will be big enough to where I can do it year-round, full-time. I am pretty damn confident I can make it happen.
